This Week (1/19-23) . . .

This is the schedule for all who are enrolled in my classes [Dr. Higley]. Let me highlight a few things … 1) For those in Church’s Min, the Total Church assignment is not due this week, as I mentioned in class, this assignment is delayed to fit better with the course flow. 2) For those of you in the Online Church’s Min, I have given IT a Monday (1/19) deadline to have us up and running. If it is not online by then, I will notify you of the status and send you assignments via email and we will use alternative methods until they have the course website repaired. And, 3) I have also included the “RACISM, PREJUDICE AND THE CHRISTIAN” events on campus as well—I hope you take advantage of these extra things.

Th. (1/22) – Lecture: Introduction to Creativity; Assignments: CULTURE MAKING, Part 1a -Chapters 1-3, and WHAT A GREAT IDEA – Introduction & Chapter 1.

The Church’s Ministry

M (1/19) – Lecture: Conclude “The Church in God’s Program” and start study of “John 17.”

W (1/21) – Form Groups and begin Group Discussion on STOP DATING THE CHURCH – Chapters 1-4 (Worksheets for SDTC dues as well).

F (1/23) – Lecture [Dr. Wilhite]: Acts 1:1-8.

Note: Facilitators and all “Advanced Church’s Min” people will meet with Dwight Peterson in the Keystone Room from 7:00-7:50 AM.

Online – Church’s Ministry

Individual Work – STOP DATING THE CHURCH, Chapters 1-4; Read Lecture: “The Church in God’s Program”;

Discussions – Contribute as assigned to the four discussion threads this week: Introductions, Acts study, Lecture and Text, and Ministry Applications.

Assessment – Do the Quiz, Post your Discussion Contribution file, and contribute to the Assessment Posts.

Wednesday, 10 AM Chapel, 30 to 35 minutes, Part I of Heroes of Black Church History: Celebrating the Legacy of African American Christianity. Dr. Bob Kelleman

Wednesday, 2:00-3:30, open to all campus, A Christ-centered TEAM Approach to Multi-cultural Ministry. Dr. Bob Kelleman Room 140

Wednesday, 8:30-10:00 PM, The Future of Biblical Counseling: Dreaming a Dozen Dreams. Dr. Bob Kelleman Room 140

Thursday, 10 AM Chapel, 35 to 40 minutes, Part II of Heroes of Black Church History: Celebrating the Legacy of African American Christianity. Dr. Bob Kelleman

Thursday evening 10:30 Everyone’s Night Out – this will be a student/faculty/ staff discussion on racism and prejudice in the cafetorium. Everyone is invited to come and ask questions and make comments about this week’s chapels. All on-campus students are required to come to this event instead of dorm devotions for this week. This event will be facilitated by Mr. Ted Boykin, Associate Dean of Students. Student Center-Cafetorium
