Top Blogs: Between Two Worlds

Top Tier sites . . .

Hands down, my most viewed blog is Between Two Worlds by Justin Taylor and his team of associates. It would not be an exaggeration to say that I check this blog every time I log on to the internet. Why? Well, checkout the ratings below to see my perspective of it, but let me give a little introduction first.

BTW (that’s what we groupies call it) calls itself a, “A Mix of Theology, Philosophy, Politics, and Culture.” And it truly is. On any given day you will find interviews, links to important news items, MP3 links, book reviews, music and YouTube videos, PDF chapters of new books, some humor, announcements of upcoming events, etc. etc. And herein lies one of its great attractions, in a typical day there will be several new entries (e.g., just check out today’s new posts). That’s why it needs to be on a RSS or blog roll; they are constantly putting up new things. And I find almost all of them interesting and/or informative.

Of course, you’ll want to pick and choose the things of interest to you. There are many things they post I never give much attention to, but the genius of it is that with the variety, they will soon have something up you’ll want to read more about. Moreover, they are always current. It may well be one of the best places on the internet to keep up with any of the latest developments and newsworthy things of the evangelical world.

Taylor and the BTW community are definitely of the new reform crowd. On their site you will find everything Piper, Carson, Mohler, Sproul, etc. (of course, those are not bad guys to hang around). Nonetheless, they are always fair and evenhanded, and they will often include things from the greater evangelical community, even some of us odd-ball dispensational types every once in a while.

Well, here is my detailed breakdown and assessment (based on my, admittedly, subjective criteria – they are fully described here >>) . . .

1. Content – It fits all three: *** - Excellent, always good stuff.

2. Informative – Always fresh and always something to learn: *** - Excellent, always good stuff.

3. Current – On steroids current: ยตยตยต - Excellent, always good stuff.

4. Interesting – Interesting? Entertaining? Worth the time? Yes! Yes! Yes! *** - Excellent, always good stuff.

5. Creative - Meaningful variety and creativity: *** - Excellent, always good stuff.

6. Relevant – Does it regularly have it? Yes! *** - Excellent, always good stuff.

7. Appeal – This is minor, but it is plain and lacks popping visual appeal, although it is certainly easy to navigate: ** - Pretty Good, most of the time (they couldn’t be perfect).

For those keeping score, that adds up to 20 out of 21. Not bad.

In sum, I highly recommend the BTW site to you. I never fail to find something of interest. And as I said above, I suggest bookmark or RSS it, you won’t be disappointed.

To Justin Taylor and crew, thanks for the outstanding work on this site, you are the “gold standard” of the evangelical blog world.

Blessings
