Top Blogs - Pyromanics

Today in my review of Second Tier blogs, I feature one called Pyromaniacs.

And the fire and blowing up name reference is well chosen. The Pyromaniacs team has an edge. They are especially tough on anything that is not hardcore Calvinistic theology. Sometime they come across abrasive; but I doubt they worry about that too much. Nonetheless, if you can read through the angst, they usually have some helpful things to say and can challenge our thinking. Much of their work is a satirical humor type of stuff—it’s just that too often I find myself cringing more than laughing.

That all being said, the thing that keeps me coming back to them are the incredible graphics they use. Someone is getting paid well, or should be. This, in my mind, is the clear and run-away best feature of this site. I have featured a few of them here to give you a taste. And you will notice that they have a consistent branding—good stuff.

Well, here are my thoughts based on my subjective criteria . . .

Content – Theologically oriented, but in a unwanted prophet sort of way—rarely uplifting, and always edgy. Not that I mind it so much, but it gets uncomfortable to read after a certain amount of time. I find myself skimming it more than reading it.

Informative – For the most part, although I do find them redundant much of the time.

Current – New every day, and they have a good variety with their team approach.

Interesting – Yes!

Creative – Yes, sometime they may try too hard, but the effort is appreciated.

Relevant – Yes, especially toward weak theology and how it affects the church.

Appeal – As mentioned above, incredibility gifted in this realm—one of the best you will see.

I encourage you to check them out. If you’re into sardonic humor, you’ll really like them. If not, they can be a little tiring, but still worth the effort to keep them on your blogroll.

Blessings

I have been a Pyro fan for awhile. Irenic - no, informative -yes. I appreciate the content, but like all theo sites... well, the internet shouldn't be our prime source for theological education... (I have to stop thinking this late at night!)
