Profile of the LUKEWARM, evaluation sixteen . . .LUKEWARM PEOPLE feel secure because they attend church, made a profession of faith at age twelve, and were baptized, come from a Christian family, vote Republican, or live in America. Just as the prophets in the Old Testament warned Israel that they were not safe just because they lived in the land of Israel, so we are not safe just because we wear the label Christian or because some people persist in calling us a “Christian nation”(Chan, “Crazy Love ,” p. 78).
Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Matt. 10:28).
What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem, and you who feel secure in Samaria! You are famous and popular in Israel, and people go to you for help (Amos 6:1).
