28 When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.
Silly enough this reminds me of a book I just read. In that book a wicked man was ruling over everyone. People were fighting against him but were not doing well. When he was finally killed the flood of people that were afraid to fight came out and supported the people that were first fighting against him.
To me this verse means that is may be OK to hold yourself back when someone who is wrong is in power over you, but do not stop being righteous. Stay the course and eventually you can return to who you really are.
Prov.28:26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe. This would be one of my favorite proverbs in this chapter because we place no confidence in the flesh-Phil 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
23 He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward Than he who flatters with the tongue. I am reminded to be real...don't tell people what they want to hear. Don't flatter just to say something. It would be better for me to not speak or to be truthful than to flatter and be loose with my tongue.
Vs. 25-A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper- This verse stood out to me because it is hard right now to trust God finalacially. I do not have a job in June and my car is falling apart. I look at my other friends who aren't having to pay for things because their parents are buying it for them. This is a good reminder for me that I simply just need to trust God!
9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable. This verse was convicting to me because many times I am guilty of disobeying God and then I expect everything to be fine and dandy when I go to Him in prayer or for quiet time. I am essence, sinning against God and then expecting Him to be okay about it.
Proverbs 28:1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. The wicked man flees unquestioned becasue no one sees him. His evil is hid from others. The righteous men are bold and all know they are righteous. They are not ashamed to show their true God. This what I get out of this Proverb.
Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
Following the Lord's will is vital to my mental well being. No amount of mainuplative gain will provide for me and keep my mid at ease. Even if I think I don't have enough, I'd rather keep seeking the Lord and struggling to be content then bring myself gain that leaves me emotionally deprived.
26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe. I guess if anything stuck out it was this verse. probably because The point is so plainly stated. i feel like we get so used to trying to pull statements out of a passage to figue out what it means, but this author does not beat around the bush!

21 To show partiality is not good— yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
what about stealing bread to feed your starving family?
22 A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him
