Prov 1:31 and they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own lusts

This is the results of going the way of "self"

23 If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. 24 But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,25 since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you-

I love how Lady wisdom gives her ultimatum in these verses, and i believe when you says in verse 26, "when your in trouble, im just gonns sit bsck and laugh". Ouch!

8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction
and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

~ over and over we hear this in Proverbs. I have a son myself and a daughter. I know many times I have to repeat my instructions to them.
Parenting it seems is timeless. If I ever feel I'm saying the same thing to my children over and over I will remember Proverbs and how the man with God given wisdom repeated himself for his son's. So I should keep repeating because it is needed and not a "waist of breath"

"but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."

I want to live wisely so I might rest in peace with a guilt-free mind. Being at ease in the inmost parts of my soul bring a generous portion of contentment and satisfaction no matter the circumstances...

10 My son, if sinners entice you,
do not give in to them.

So often sin can be appealing. It looks like it would be easier or have better rewards than following what we know is right. I am reminded of Mark 8:36 that says, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul." This verse is pleading with us to not give in to the temptation of following sin - it gets us no where.

-This seems to be a big part of the book. Choosing the right path. Having the emotional intelligence to not be peer pressured and have self control when choosing which path to follow.

Proverbs 1 is great, however Proverbs 1:20-33 really set things straight. It goes back to Proverbs 1:7
Wisdom calls out but whoever rejects her will not get help from her when they are in trouble. They could have chose to fear the Lord. Wisdom has been waiting and she is running out of patience for the mockers and simpleminded.

15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
This is a good reminder to me that I shouldn't even "flirt" with sin people who will tempt me into sin. Evening "stepping foot in their path" is dangerous and should be avoided. I need to run and not stand there.

since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of thier ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes...

These two verses remind me of Galations 6 where it states "A man reaps what he sows." Whoever chooses to ignore the vital advice about wisdom will reap the consequences.

20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street,
she raises her voice in the public squares;

i find it interesting that wisdom calls out to us. i always think that i need to search for wisdom. i never think of wisdom already being a choice there trying to get my attention, but God always provides a wise opportunity. i just need to be wise enough to make that choice.

23 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue. This proveb caught my eye this week as i had to correct or rebuke some attitudes in the church all last week i was struggling whether to say anything or not. i decided to go for it and remain true to the text that i was preaching in rebuking some false attitudes in the church. since sunday i have heard several people going over my sermon with one another and really convicted and changed because of being true to the text.

My inital thoughts are that I need wisdom! Let me be the son who listens. But I am auctually the one who is being warned of being in the grave.
