These proverbs more so than the rest of the chapters we've blogged about thus far, I think are meant to be read with the rest of the bib;e in mind. It is filled with a lot of "righteous people will succeed and bad people will fail" proverbs. While we've studied that it is true overall considering the life the righteous will have with God, it may not and sadly most likely not apply in this earthly life.

Proverbs 15 tells us the we should watch what we say and how we say it. It also tells us that the wise are able to be corrected with out any problems. In the end, we once again must fear the Lord. If we fear Him then we will be rigtheous. Proverbs 15 goes back to the foundation of the book, Proverbs 1:7. Proverbs 15 needs to play a huge role in many peoples lives. We need to watch what and how we say things.

vs. 16-17 "Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and turmoil wiht it. Better is a dish of vegetables where love is, than a fattened ox and hatred with it."
When I read this, I was reminded of 1 Tim. 6:6 - "But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment." It is so much better to be thankful for what you have than to want and want what you can't have. I am so thankful for our little family and what we have - it may not be much, but our house is filled with love and laughter. I pray that my children develop the fear of the LORD!

Proverb 15:22, ensures us that "Without counsel plans fail,
but with many advisers they succeed." This concept is so true. I, in order to make the best decisions, need to seek people much wiser than myself. in doing so i to become wiser, and carry a proper perspective when i enter the decision making process.

The fear of the Lord is a simple statement with many implications. Is it auctually a simple concept to fear the Lord? The important thing is that we do fear the Lord. For if we fear the Lord we gain wisdom. They come hand in hand.

29 The LORD is far from the wicked
but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

The eyes of the Lord are upon us and he hears our cries.

31. He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.

Wisdom can only be acquired by a teachable spirit. Advice is something that is more valueable than we think, yet we often do not follow it. Wisdom is a rare treasure that must be sought after constantly...first we need to humble ourselves and listen to advice.

A gentle answer turns away wrath...

1. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

sometimes even when i am trying to be nice or say the right thing people are offended or get upset with me. being gentle with my words is not my strong suit. even a good word can seem harsh, and that stirs up anger and more harsh words. a cycle that, once started, is hard to break.

Verse 1 states "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Put yourself in a situation like this. In a time of trouble which kind of answer would you like to receieve and if you received the answer of both of these circumstances how does it make you feel? This is why its important to be there for each other and not put other people down. Anger can cause so many other problems no matter what the starting cause was.

A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. A gentle tongue is a powerful thing it calm the angry, bring healing to a heart and even correction when it needs. So yes a genle toung does bring life.
