27 A man of knowledge uses words with restraint,
and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

restrraint and even tempered represents a man of wisdom and knowledge... isn't interesting that in conflict people try to bring themselves control by acting like an uncontrolable idiot... gotta think about this...

3 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,
but the LORD tests the heart.

What a beautiful verse! The contents of the crucible and furnace are precious metals, The contents of our heats are just a precious to the Lord. That's why I guess we hurt Him so when we sin.

FROM ASHLEY: Let a man meet a she-bear robbed of her cubs
rather than a fool in his folly. This verse is showing that meeting a furious bear is better than being with a fool. A mother bear is very dangerous when she believes her cubs are threathened. This just struck me as seeing how important is to not be a fool. Thanks Ashley Harro

If we are wise, we watch our tongues. What we say is controlled by what is in our heart. I guess, in essence then, wisdom is decided by what is in our hearts. I am trying to think through this since we are talking so much about controlling our tongues this week.

Vs. 27- Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
This is a characteristic that I only dream of being one day. It shows so much discipline and strength to be able to hold your tongue and not say whatever is on your mind. I know with Christ all things are possible but it sure is hard:)

17 A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.

In a good healthy Christian body, this should be true. It is true of my friends. And true of my wife. This is all there is to say for me on this. I am just glad that it is soo true!

1. Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.

Stuff and things are not as important as a loving family. I need to thank God more often that I have a wonderful loving family that is described here.

9. He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Our sin nature causes us to desire to put down other people so that we can look better. When someone messes up, our actions prove our character when we decide to either forgive or to spread the gossip.

v.5 whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker.

All men are created in the image of God and when we insult his creation we are insulting God.

10 A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool.

enough said.... a fool never learns his lesson. even after a hundred punishments, he is too foolish to learn.

Proverbs 17:10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding
than a hundred blows into a fool.

A fool doesnt learn from his mistakes, he just runs into the same wall everytime hoping that one day a door will appear, but a wise man runs into the wall and follows it to the door.
