Pro 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed:and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

I believe this passage is referring to the wife-Be happy, loving and respectful and enjoy the company of your wife whom you have been devoted to since your youth.

5 Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.
This verse makes it clear that the path of her feet takes you farther and farther down as you go. Its should not suprise you in end because the whole way is destruction. It illustrates how the sinful path of life is. Its sinful the whole way down, not just at the end.

6 She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths are crooked, but she knows it not.

This verse caught my eye. Clearly in the first section she is a person who is not thinking about the end of her life. Is she a person who can be saved? What if she was shown that her paths are not right?

8 Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house, 9 lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is cruel,
if this would have just said, "and your best years to one who is cruel". then in could have left a chance for a do over. but it doesn't. marriage to a fool is still a binding marriage. we have to be sure not to give all our years to a foolish partner.

v. 8 - "Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house"
Do ALL that you can to avoid enticing, tempting opportunities!

vs. 22 states that sin ensnares a person. Sin is a big deal and should be veiwed that way. Many times I believe we try to lessen our sin so we don't feel bad. Sin will entrap us and can effect us in the long run.

Proverb 5:21
For a man's ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all his paths.

What a true statement. Before we ever think of following the path of folly we should open our Bibles and read this passage. God sees all we do and He can see where are paths are going. Always remember the Lord is watching and we will be judged at the end of our days.

What stood out to me was the structure of the passage. I thought it was interesting because it started out tlaking about the characteristics of the adulterous woman, then goes to describing what happens to a person if he was to go after her, and then it talks about loving his wife he will be fully satisfied with her. I focused on what happens to a person that went after the adulterous woman pictured the characteristics and then looked at the charcteristics of the man was faithful with his wife. The second will have God's blessing and shows that having discipline plays a big role in a man's life as well.

I agree with Chad. Verse 21 sticks out the most in my mind because it's so profound. It serves as a constant reminder that God is ALWAYS watching us!

For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD,and he examines all his paths.

James you got it - "Clearly in the first section she is a person who is not thinking about the end of her life". This passage reminds me to examine my heart and my path.. where am I headed? Am I headed towards unfaithfulness to God, to wisdom? OR, am I seeking hard after what is right....?

Keep your way far from her,
and do not go near the door of her house. Once again we need to avoid temptation; Solomon keeps pointing this out to his son. Which we need to keep in mind at all times.

11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.

12 You will say, "How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!

13 I would not obey my teachers
or listen to my instructors.

14 I have come to the brink of utter ruin
in the midst of the whole assembly."

If we are not careful to listen to our Father's words of Wisdom we will be crying this out. I feel like I am crying this today, but I'm not. I have yet come to the point of depravity where I am crying this to its fullest. I am still a fool, and my heart still hates being disciplined. But I know my God to love me and I need discipline inorder to come back to his Words.
