34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.

Proverbs 9:10
We ultimately go back to the Lord. He is wisdom and understanding. Without Him we will sink into the foolish ways of folly and surely go to the grave.

I like the post by Brit F also.

Vv. 21 The woman Folly is loud;she is undisciplined and without knowledge.

I dont know why but does it make me a bad person if i listen to this verse and immediately start picturing people's faces?! I am in love with the author because every once in awhile he will stop with all the riddles and rhymes and just come out a make a blunt statement. It's great because that in it of itself is exactly what I do sometimes when "foolish" people try to argue a point and after awhile of trying to explain something, you just have to cut clear to the point for them to understand.

Pro 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

The wise person will profit from instruction, and grow, however some men are wise in their own eyes and cannot profit from doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction (II Tim 3:16)

9:2- She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine, she has also set her table.

Women WIsdom doesn't want a superficial relationship. She wants an intimate relationship with everyone. Described here is having a meal in someone's home and this symbolizes this kind of relationship.

Wisdom and Folly take the same approach to calling out. The prepare a meal for all then call out to the simple. They both crave somthing. Wisdom craves for all to know God, and Folly craves those who come to her find the path of death. Its one or the other folks!

The last verse we see deception with woman folly again and again we see that her path comes from and leads to death. In chapter 5 here feet lead to death, here in 8 her guests are lead to their graves.

Proverbs 9:9 "Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning." A characteristic of a wise man is that he is teachable...I want to have a teachable spirit.

"Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning"

A wise person realizes that he has much to learn. Wisdom cannot be completely achieved because one can always become wiser. Having a teachable spirit is a necessary quality in one's pursuit of wisdom.

"stolen water is sweeet; food eaten in secret is delicious!" 17

Why is it that sinful, secret indulgence seems so much more appealing than the right way? Why did God allow our senses to be so easily influenced, knowing that these sense would deceive us and lead us into sin?

Until I get to Heaven, I'll just keep focusing on the godly things and stop wondering why the worldy, wasteful temptaions sometimes make me think twice...

"Stolen water is sweet,
and a bread eaten in secret is pleasant." states that sin can be enjoyable but the next verse says that death is in the presence.

6 "Leave your simple ways, [1] and live, and walk in the way of insight.”
This is how it can be applicable to us: this is what is like when we gain wisdom. We should leave our simple ways and cling to the wisdom of God. We should begin walking in insight.

8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

this is a major difference between the two. wisdom responds well to rebuke and thrives on instruction. a foolish mocker will despise the one who knows more than he.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will still be wiser.

We are to never quit are pursuit of gaining wisdom. We should always be attentive to what others have to say with proper discernment.
