See You at the Pole

Today is the annual "See You at the Pole" prayer day. SYATP has been held each September at flag poles on High School and Middle School campuses across the country, and now around the world, since 1991. It has truly been a student led prayer movement, probably the closest thing to a national "revival" we have had in our modern era of the church.

Each year when this event come around I think of a very special day for me as a dad and (at the time) Youth Pastor, when my daughter, a 5th Grade at the Bath Middle School (Lima, OH), with her dad, and some other friends, gathered at one of the very early SYATP days -- it had not been done in our area before that day. What a proud father I was that day, of her, and of her peers, for taking a pioneering stand for their Lord. One that had not been done before. And because of her and a bunch of other willing young people, the movement is still strong and growing, and still making a difference for God on school campuses.

You can read about the purpose and events of the day at the SYATP web site, here >>.

Today, we should support the students that will participate, and thank God for the courage these young people will display as they gather together on their school campus to pray for their peers, and to pray that God will give them opportunities to make a difference for Him, in every school they represent.

Blessings
