Proverbs 26:6-106 Like cutting off one's feet or drinking violence
is the sending of a message by the hand of a fool.
7 Like a lame man's legs that hang limp
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.
8 Like tying a stone in a sling
is the giving of honor to a fool.
9 Like a thornbush in a drunkard's hand
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.
10 Like an archer who wounds at random
is he who hires a fool or any passer-by.
Proverbs 26 has much to say about the fool, the verses above are only a few. As I read this chapter, it almost seems like a "Fool's Inventory" test (as in, a personality test or inventory).
Hmmmm? If you were to rate yourself on a scale of 1-5, 1 not me, 5 totally me, for each statement about the fool; how would you (I) measure up?

"Been there done that!" v7 Like a lame man's legs that hang limp is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. Too often I qualified as a fool, I would "know enough to be dangerous." Twas those times of using proverbs out of context that proved me useless like the limp legs of the lame; I was probably more of a hinderance to the cause of Christ than a help. Mike T.
9 Like a thornbush in a drunkard's hand
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.
Obviously a thorn bush in a drunkards hand could potentially do a lot of damage. But probably not as much as a proverb in a fools mouth. This makes me think of a scripture in Romans.
Rom 1:21-22 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
The fool is someone that says there is no God. We have these folks with us today. They are often highly educated and very sophisticated as well. But the Bible says they are fools because they say that there is no God. The proverb in their mouth is simply the false wisdom that they profess and destroy others with as well.
