A Godly Business Meeting?

Church business meetings are notorious for creating some of the worst moments and testimonies for the name of Christ.

I'm grateful that I belong to a church where the leaders and members work together to make our business meetings a time of praise and an act worship in carrying-out the necessary detail work of God's mission through us.

Having been a member for awhile, I know I can take that for granted. One of my BBC students, Dan Nichols, who recently joined our church, was able to participate in his first business meeting last evening, he wrote on his blog "Credo In Deum," the following assessment of his experience . . .

A Godly Business Meeting

By Dan Nichols

Tonight I got to experience the most God-honoring business meeting I've ever been to.As I walked in, I received my information packet with extremely well-written information on the business we as members had to put to a vote. Next came the praise and worship played with the same energy and excellence as a Sunday morning (or Saturday evening, in our case...)

today was a wonderful day as our group met. we started off by going over the three encouragements that our passage talks about. we linked this to how we are going to develpe our project. Greg gave us a story board for our video that we're going to make. this is going to be so much fun! yay! our video will consist of three main scenes and each of those scenes will reflect at least one type of encouragement that is presented in our passage. We also talked about how we can practice the types of encouragment, that are in our passage, in the local church today. We then decided to divid up the responsibilities of our project. Everybody in our group was present today. hooray!!!

Today the entire group was together, and we discussed what we wanted to do with our presentation. I can't give away any details yet, but I will let you know that things will be interesting. It was a good time of brainstorming and putting our heads together (metaphorically). Most of our time was spent just coming up with different ideas of what to do. I think that our group is off to a good start on this and I can't wait to see what we come up with in the days to come.

Romans 12-15
Today all of our group was present. We talked about our presentation for almost the whole time we met. We discussed the order we wanted things to go in, how we should present the subject, what questions we should ask those we are presenting to, and who would be responsible for each section. Everyone had different ideas on what they wanted the presentation to look like and we have to talk things through to really get things accomplished and decide as a group what will be done.

John 1 and 17

to clarify the confusion (if anyone noticed) I accidently posted this on last weeks blog... so that explains why i am on there twice. But thanks to Caleb Byron, i found where the rest of the bloggers blogged!

Today was a sad day... no, not really. But seriously it was a little upsetting just to know that today was our last official in class meeting. We have had a lot of fun within our group and have enjoyed getting to know each other.

Today we began to put a powerpoint together to use for our presentation. We also discussed other options that we can incoorporate into our presentation. So far, on our powerpoint, we have the background info. on each chapter and some definitions of important words used in the chapters. We plan on meeting again on our own, outside of class to finish the powerpoint and putting a presentation together. This will take some sacrifice of time in order for all of us to get together. Good thing we like each other!!! (although you wouldn't also guess it, due to the way we joke ("___ looks like puke")) but... it's all in good fun!

1 Corinthians 12-14

Today we caught Laura up on what we went over last week, and then began to discuss the overwhelming task of how to fill our 20 minutes of time for our project. We first went over our resources given us by Dr. Crago and then started planning ideas for our top secret project. We came up with plenty of ideas, and a general plan for our presentation.

Team unity is great as always, everyone shares and jokes with the rest of the group freely. I believe our teamwork/unity will play a big part in the success of our project.
