Church's Min Report - 2/27

Church's Min bloggers: Welcome!

You are at the right place, your first task will be to set up a Goggle Account--the BBC one will not work here. To do so, click on the COMMENT link at the bottom of this post, in the column to the right--towards the bottom--you will see a place to set up a personal account, click on it and follow their instructions (of course, if you already have one you should not have to redo this process). Also, if possible, please include your Name and your Passage in your Account Name (for example: Josh Philippians, etc.).

After you have your own account, your task will be to submit a summary report of your group's discussion for the week (you will do this each week). So, after class on Friday, as soon as you can, log on to this blog [http://3rdJohn8.blogspot.com/]--I will have a post like this each Friday, clearly labled "Church's Min Report"--once there, click on the COMMENT link, and post your report.

These will be due by class time each Monday, we will review them in class, so get them up in a timely manner.

So, to get started: create your account, and make your first post for today.

1 Corinthians 12-14

Our whole group was present this Friday. We began to dig deeper into more of the background of the text. We also began to talk about this "mysterious" project. We began to make an outline of our passage. Next time we meet we plan on digging deeper into the passage.

James 2,3,4
Hey Dr. Higley!!

Friday my group met and we started to outline our passage to get a better understanding of how it was laid out and we read through it in class together. We are starting to open up a little more and its cool to see everyone's insight on the passage. We are hopefully going to complete the outline next time and start to break down the main points of the passage.

Friday in our group we first discussed each of our individual jobs and what they each entailed and made sure we all had a good understanding of what tasks we had to do for the remainder of the semester. After that, we as a group, read and discussed the first chapter of Galations. We talked about how it was a culture shock for the people of Galatia because what Paul was writing to them was different from their lifestyle. Also we talked about how the first chapter of the book of Galations was sort of a thesis statement to the letter to the church of Galatia, going over three points in our discussion: 1. v. 6-7 the Gospel of Christ, 2. Apostleship - serving Christ and not man, and 3. Salvation - the last part of the chapter which is a parallel to the passage in Phil 3. We are individually going to read further in the book and in the next group session discuss further in detail chapter 1 and move into chapter 2.

Good work Brandon, Jenn, and Josh. This is exactly what I want. And as for the groups, good decision to begin outlining your passage--P of BS in action. And Jenn's group, like the Rapture, it is a mystery, so don't fret about it, just prepare by doing what you're suppose to be doing :)

Ephesians 4

We were missing one of our two seans which led to slower discussion. We recapped our chat about the Ephesian church which we enjoyed last week. We discussed the problems that the Ephesian church seemed to have with unity. Ephesians is an interesting book and seems to be split into two halves. The first three chapters are intensely doctrinal while final three is practical application of the doctrine taught.

This is not a test...
1 person was absent from our group.
11:22 we chose our group roles. Rachel- captain, Joel- blogger(obviously), Reston- recorder, Ben- evaluator.
11:30 reviewed last weeks discussion
11:34 'expose'd (thanks Brady for the adjective) 1 Thess 2 in more detail. We decided the word that described the chapter best is 'flashback'
11:38 individually read through chapter in hopes of finding a key verse. A recurring theme was know/remember. We did not identify a key verse.
11:50 BH stole Joel so Rachel, Reston, & Brady shot the breeze.
12:00 meeting officially adjured
