The Persecuted Church

The Voice of Martyrs (VOM) official web address is appropriately: Persecution.com.

The Voice of Martyrs ministry was founded in the 1967 by Romania Pastor RICHARD WURMBRAND. After several imprisonments and repeated persecution by the Communist government, Wurnbrand and his family were able to secure freedom and immigrate to the United States. Shortly thereafter, he published a book about his experiences, which led to him beginning his ministry of serving persecuted Christians. Originally his vision was to Christians being persecuted by the communist regimes of Western Europe, but it soon spread to serve persecuted believers around the world, and continues to do so in a variety ways to this day.

VOM serves the persecuted church through publications, Bible distribution, support ministries, and one of its primary tools is to make those of us in the free world aware of what’s going and then helping to connect us with ways that we can make a difference. VOM maintains a daily news feed where they report persecutions and atrocities against believers around the world. A quick perusal of the following headlines gives us an idea of the scope of this problem:

Three Christians Dead in Eritrean Prisons
Pakistan – Islamic Extremists Beat Evangelist, Steal Rickshaw
India – UPDATE - Relief Camps Closed in Orissa
India – Church Leaders Attacked
Christian Persecution Intensifies Across China
Etc., etc.

Moreover, VOM does all it can to help these victims and to support the Underground Church around the world. The best way to figure out what they do and how you might be able to help (they have resources and opportunities for individuals and churches), is to peruse their website and educate yourself. From there, you will find opportunities for you to join this effort to help persecuted brother and sisters around the world.

Blessings
