The Proverbs have much to say about how to be a good friend, and chapter 27 has two well know wisdom axioms concerning friendship, consider thoughfully the wisdom of each:
Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:6 - Wounds from a friend can be trusted,
but an enemy multiplies kisses.

v17 - It takes work to shape and sharpen iron - it’s a process; so too is working with another. Time is required; energy is exerted. Sharpen also means to be fierce - at times true sharpening requires some extra motivation; often the process needs to be repeated to get the desired results.
May we be sharpeners for one another, but also willing “sharpenees” as we continue this wonderful adventure (Romans12:2). Mike T.
